Happy 12 Days of Christmas - my official countdown to the holiday for the second year running. Each day, leading up to Christmas (for a total of 12 days) I plan to have a themed post based on the number of the day.
For today, I present the 9 Best Cards from our recent 2022 Topps Stadium Club group break which consisted of two hobby boxes. If you are interested in getting involved in my group breaks, I recently started a Discord channel (join here) where I plan to post all group breaks moving forward. The next big box break for my group is going to be Breaker's Club! You won't want to miss out on what is already promising to be an epic group break - more details on the Discord channel.
Finally, if you'd like to see all of the cards from the two boxes of Stadium Club prior to seeing my personal picks for the Top 9 cards overall, check out the full video replay here:
And with that, let's get going with our countdown!
Top 9 Cards from 2022 Topps Stadium Club
#9: Autograph: SCBA-MMA. Matt Manning
The first of the two boxes of 2022 Stadium Club produced not one but two Detroit Tiger autographs (you'll see the other one a bit later in this countdown). This card made the final slot in the countdown over one of the autographs in the second box (a Reiver Sanmartin auto).
#8: Triumvirate: T-19. Willie Mays
I'm a sucker for the Triumvirate concept - three cards that fit together jigsaw puzzle style. Unfortunately, Topps was kind of lazy with a lot of this year's Stadium Club inserts including the die-cut portion of the Triumvirate cards. At least we got a good subject in Willie Mays.
#7: Stadium Club Chrome: 254. Randy Johnson
The Stadium Club Chrome cards are seeded 1-per-box so this was a decent box hit for the Mariners! Our Chrome card from the other box was Christian Yelich but he didn't make this particular countdown.
#6: Black & White parallel: 297. Yadier Molina
Seeded 1:48 packs, the Black & White parallels are basically one-per-every-three-boxes. Amazingly, we pulled one in each of our boxes (the other being Aaron Nola of the Phillies).
#5: Rainbow Foilboard parallel: 60. Corey Seager #02/25
Numbered out of only 25 copies, the Rainbow Foilboard parallels are seeded 1:311 packs (or about 1 in every 19.5 boxes)!!
#4: Autograph (redemption): SCBA-ST. Spencer Torkelson
Our third of the four autographs from the boxes was this redemption card for a Spencer Torkelson base autograph. Torkelson is one of the more highly thought of rookies so this could easily end up being a great pull for Detroit down the line.
#3: Red Foil parallel: 100. Wander Franco
The Red Foil cards aren't particularly rare (seeded 1:3 packs) but we certainly got one of the better rookies in the set as one of our Red Foil parallels in Franco. The image on the card is nice as well which helped to boost Franco to the #3 spot in the countdown.
#2: Instavision: IV-RA. Ronald Acuna, Jr.
First of all, it must be said that this is an awesome looking insert. They are also crazy hard pulls - seeded 1:256 packs (or 1:16 boxes)! This is a much thicker card than your usual Stadium Club fare as well, definitely feels like a proper "fancy" insert.
#1: Autograph: SCBA-KH. Keith Hernandez
This card is autograph perfection - a great photograph with an auto that's perfectly placed within the photo and the card frame. Even better, the subject is a legend of baseball - something quite rare to get in autograph form out of Stadium Club (you'll notice our other three autographs were all of the rookie variety). I love, love, love everything about this card - and while it might not be the rarest card that we pulled it's still got my vote for the best of the two boxes!
Overall, I'd say we crushed it with our two boxes - plenty of great base cards, some okay inserts and parallels as well as a few super rare cards - and then the Keith Hernandez beauty of a signature to finish things off. No complaints from me!

That Hernandez card is a beauty, and I will even say I would offer to buy it from you if you want. Thats how much I like it. Some nice cards you got there!
ReplyDeleteIt's not mine to sell as it was part of a recent group break! I agree though, it's cardboard perfection!
DeleteAll good!
DeleteSome sweet hits here! The Hernandez and Torkelson autos for sure (I'm certain Tork's sig won't look nearly as nice as Keith's) and that Acuna insert is fantastic as well.
ReplyDeleteThat Hernandez is far and away the best card here.
ReplyDeleteJust saw the base card of that Keith Hernandez on another blog and thought it'd be cool to get it signed by all three guys.
