As I've mentioned multiple times lately, I'm still working on clearing off various packages that have arrived and have been sitting on my desk for some time. Today's package is actually a fairly recent one thanks to a Sportlots order that I placed a couple weeks ago.
The seller that I bought from had a pair of rather rare 2015 Allen & Ginter minis that I needed at a "market value" price. It wasn't a steal but then again, these cards rarely are anymore!
The 2015 A&G set had two mini insert sets dealing with the idea of health. There's the Healthy Mind set and the Healthy Body set and both are quite difficult to come by these days! I've been slowly picking away at this set when and where I can though with only 20 cards combined between the two sets the fact that I still need a quarter of them (five) tells you that these sets aren't easy to complete.
As for the subjects of the two cards, the Flying a Kite card says the benefits include gaining Vitamin D from the sun and exercise the brain to get the kite airborne. Grappling (not to be confused with wrestling) is a mixed martial art that emphasized fighting on the ground. Way back when I was in high school, I did wrestle (though not particularly well). That being said, grappling isn't for me as I have no desire to be a bad wrestler and be getting punched at the same time.
In addition to the two rare Ginter cards, the same seller also had a reasonably priced Barry Larkin parallel that I didn't own yet:
That's a 2019 Panini Prizm "Neon Orange Donut Circles" parallel #/150. The Prizm set isn't for everyone but I have to admit that I enjoy acquiring the multiple parallels for Larkin. They are especially fun when the cards have a distinct look or design - and I'd say "neon orange donut circles" is a fitting title for this particular parallel.
The 2019 Panini Prizm set is chock full of parallels - here's the full list of Barry Larkin cards (note that I only consider collecting cards with a print run of at least 25 copies). As usual, a "Yes" means I have it while a "No" means I still need it!

That ended up being a pretty nice haul from Sportlots - great to see that there are still sellers out there who have more than one card that I need from my want list!
Glad you found some hard to find cards on SL. I've been on the site a few times this week... slowly crossing off some set needs myself.
ReplyDeleteI once had thoughts of collecting the "Healthy" A&G minis but quickly scrapped that. ... Happy Panini won't be plaguing us baseball collectors with 5,000 random parallels (have you pulled the overflowing washing machine parallel yet?) anymore. Bye, bye.
