I'm back today with the next batch of packs out of my 2023 Topps Series 1 hobby box. I opened the first six packs from the box yesterday, now it's time to rip the next six packs!
Pack 7:
244. Cesar Hernandez
51. Chas McCormick
117. Emmanuel Clase
280. Julio Urias
54. Marcus Stroman
5. Albert Pujols
320. Cade Cavalli
151. Tyler Wells
235. Robbie Ray
Greatest Hits: 22GH-4. Mookie Betts
29. Trevor Rogers
8. Sam Moll
32. Jordan Montgomery
37. Josh Smith
I like the foil sheen on the Greatest Hits cards but not quite enough to try and collect that set for myself. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm only planning on trying to build the Aces insert set.
Pack 8:
144. Marco Gonzeles
104. Keston Hiura
195. George Kirby
45. Gerrit Cole
87. Ethan Small
167. Michael Massey
123. Zach Davies
57. Ha-Seong Kim
214. Graham Ashcroft
162. Isiah Kiner-Falafa
76. Josh Winckowski
105. Seth Beer
75. JT Brubaker
97. Brandon Hughes
I like the design of the Future Stars subset a lot this year, it reminds me of the early/mid-90s Topps sets which was my prime collecting years. I think Topps knows what they are doing when it comes to appealing to older collectors and the associated nostalgia of cards!
Pack 9:
278. Aaron Nola
90. Korey Lee
290. Max Fried
179. Carlos Rodon
286. Ezequiel Duran
79. Tyler O'Neill
275. Vaughn Grissom
38. Jorge Mateo
223. Eli Morgan
1988 Topps: T88-8. Alek Manoah
203. Gary Sanchez
201. Trevor Larnach
26. Trent Grisham
25. Bryon Buxton
Another 1988 Topps insert, not much to say about Manoah though.
Pack 10:
47. Ryan Mountcastle
98. Mike Yastrzemski
264. Steele Walker
282. Tim Anderson
247. Gavin Lux
180. Dominic Leone
274. Matt Duffy
Major League Material: MLM-ABR. Alex Bregman
256. Jose Ramirez
78. Sonny Gray
218. Jhoan Duran
253. Max Kepler
Well, there's the one promised hit of my box. A plain white jersey bit of Alex Bregman. Certainly not the most exciting hit that I could have pulled...but I also could have done a whole lot worse so I won't complain!
Pack 11:
305. Ji-Man Choi
111. Hunter Brown
14. Brandon Drury
124. Nathanial Lowe
295. Bryson Stott
199. Starling Marte
16. Nolan Gorman
299. Gleyber Torres
Rainbow foil: 136. Dylan Bundy
All Aces: AA-24. Julio Urias
159. A.J. Minter
46. Jorge Alfaro
173. Giants team card
178. NL Home Run Leaders
While the previous pack had the promised hit of the box, for my money it's Pack 11 that has been the best pack thus far! I love that All Aces set and I'm definitely going to track down the full set - and as luck would have it, I needed that Urias still!
Pack 12:
63. C.J. Cron
130. Keibert Ruiz
121. Luis Garcia
1. Juan Soto
3. Bryce Harper
119. Oscar Gonzalez
213. Owen Miller
324. Santiago Espinal
166. Tyler Stephenson
261. Martin Perez
303. Checklist
211. NL ERA Leaders
191. Caleb Smith
301. Ryan McMahon
We end today's pack rips with card #1 in the set - always a good one to acquire for binder purposes! Overall, I'm happy with this batch of packs - mostly because of that Aces card (but also a hit that I think is tradeable). There's still the other half of the box to rip through in future posts, so come on back to see what I end up with in those packs in a future post!

If you don't want the Bregman I know that I could give the white swatch a nice home
ReplyDeleteThe Aces inserts are cool. Also nice to see Soto claim the #1 card in the set.
ReplyDeleteI like 2022 Greatest Hits more than I thought I would, as I wasn't expecting the light foil sheen. Good luck on Aces! You should have the Alcantara I sent any day.
