Recently, I was contacted by TCDB user jamestagli about a Jose Ramirez card that I had up for sale over on eBay. The Ramirez was numbered out of 25 and was one that drew some interest from jamestagli. I was able to pull the listing off of eBay and then I mailed off the card because as a fellow player collector, I know how hard some of those parallels can be to track down and I was happy to help!
Many thanks to jamestagli for the trade...and to all those Sportlots sellers out there, please don't put rigid toploaders into PWEs (or else this happens but usually the card itself won't make it to the correct destination). I definitely got lucky here!
Well, flash forward to earlier this past week and I get a message of thanks along with a note saying that he sent me something that would be coming from a Sportlots purchase. A few days after that and this shows up at my house...
Yikes! An envelope completely ripped in half stuck inside one of those USPS "morgue" bags. But don't worry, flip over the USPS envelope and they'll promise you that they care:
I kind of think if you have pre-made envelopes saying that you care and that this rarely happens...well, maybe it's either A) not so rare after all or B) you don't care nearly as much as you'd like us to believe.
Amazingly, after all of that I am happy to report that the card itself arrived in tact (it's on the right side of the totally ripped envelope that you see above). And inside that envelope? Well, jamestagli picked out a lovely 2020 Topps Museum Collection parallel for me of Barry Larkin!
That's a Sapphire parallel that's numbered out of 150. I do love the Museum Collection set though it's never been a set that I can actually afford to buy! Thus, it was great to acquire one of the many parallels from the set that I needed...and certainly made this "trade" worthwhile (even with the USPS doing their best to ruin things along the way)!
Many thanks to jamestagli for the trade...and to all those Sportlots sellers out there, please don't put rigid toploaders into PWEs (or else this happens but usually the card itself won't make it to the correct destination). I definitely got lucky here!

Sellers fault, not USPS. Typical pwe.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been mangled in the machine. I cringe whenever I see that in my mailbox.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your assessment of them having pre-made envelopes at the ready.
