Last month, I entered my first ever Math Trade over on BoardGameGeek. In that trade, I swapped three of my games for three new-to-me games (read all about it here). Now that June is over and all of the mail packages have arrived, I'm now ready to show off my haul from the June 2023 Math Trade.
Just like in May, I completed a total of three trades in the June trade.
Trade 1:
Giving: $20 PayPal
Receiving: Ishtar: Gardens of Babylon (used)
Thoughts: As you can see right away, I did things a bit differently this time around in that I did offer up a few cash options for some games. In the case of Ishtar, getting that for $20 isn't bad at all. That's less than the going rate on eBay so I'll take it. Unfortunately, I no longer remember where I even heard about this particular game but I'm excited to give it a try.
Trade 2:
Giving: Skull King
Receiving: Munchkin
Thoughts: Munchkin is one of those games that most board gamers play a few times and then move away from. I've only ever played this game once (and it was years ago so I don't really remember much of it). Skull King was a perfectly acceptable card game but not one that I needed to return to anytime soon (probably how I'll feel about Munchkin as well). Perhaps not a great trade here but not terrible either.
Trade 3:
Giving: $5 PayPal
Receiving: Catapult Feud: Dice Tower Game Mode
Thoughts: This was a bad deal on my part. I didn't realize that the "Dice Tower Game Mode" was actually only a small pack of four cards plus a rules card. It's my fault for not looking into the pack more carefully - definitely a lesson learned on this particular trade. At least my son and I enjoy playing Catapult Feud (though if I'm being honest, we don't even use the game cards that come in the game typically)! Oh well, win some, lose some I guess.
That does it for the June Math Trade. Overall, I'd say I did a fair bit worse than I did in the May Math Trade - but then again, I had more "in demand" stuff in the May Trade to offer up for trade. I am taking part in the July Math Trade though as my available game stock continues to dwindle, I doubt I'll get another three trades this time around. Who knows, maybe? I guess check back in with me around this time in August to see what happens!

Have you ever gone to Goodwill to look for games? I was there yesterday (summer cleaning and unloading) and after dropping stuff off, I took a peek at their inventory. They had hundreds of games and puzzles. They seemed to be reasonably priced... and there were even a handful of sealed games.
ReplyDeleteThe only Goodwill in my area is horrible. I went in there once and it was a dump heap of stuff with nothing organized. They had a few games, but nothing worth looking at (your usual "Sorry" and "Monopoly" type stuff).
DeleteThat Ishtar game sounds like it could be interesting, enough so that I think I'll have to go look into it...
