I've finally made it to the final box from last week's group break - our second box of 2023 Donruss! Since I went into great detail of the Donruss set in my first box recap post for the set, today I'll simply show off some of the super highlights from the second box.
We'll start off with six (of the 12) Red Foil parallels (each is numbered out of 2023). We ended up pulling two each of the Nolan Ryan and the Andruw Jones so collation wasn't great here.
We also found four of the Independence parallels (these aren't serially numbered but they are printed on "old school" cardboard). I only scanned three (the fourth was Deyvision De Los Santos for those that are wondering).
Moving on to other parallels, we found five (!) different Stat Line parallels.
The Fucal is #/291, the Carter is #/371, the Gilber is #/500, the Herman is #/130, and the Griffey, Jr. is #/500. Obviously, that Griffey is a great pull - and what a gorgeous looking card too!
The other two parallels of note from the box were the Liberty parallel of Curtis Mead and the Eddie Murray Press Proof which is numbered 2/5!!
I'm not sure when I last pulled a card numbered out of only five copies - definitely a great pull for the Orioles team slot in the break!
Next, the rest of the inserts:
Vaughan #/999, Boggs #/999, Abel #/999, silver Abel #/343, Johnson (not numbered), Ryan #/999, and Henderson #/249. Once again, Donruss didn't disappoint when it came to the inserts! Hard to pick a favorite here but if I had to choose I think I'd give the nod to the Nolan Ryan card.
Finally, the hits of the box. We found one relic - a bright blue bit of cloth from Ricky Tiedemann of the Blue Jays:
We also lucked out and ended up having an extra autograph in our box!
The JR Ritchie is #/99 and the Jacob Berry is #/15!!
Yep, a solid box for sure - and a great ending to the group break! Now, I need to finish* sorting all the cards into their respective team stacks!
*I'm writing these posts in "real time" in which I am still behind in sorting the cards, however, by the time this post goes live on the blog I should definitely have everything sorted (and many of the cards shipped out to those who requested shipment)! I'm not really two weeks behind!*

Cool that you hit Red Foil parallels of Andruw Jones and his son! I actually just pulled my first card of the younger Jones from a box of Panini Prizm Draft Picks. I don't usually but prospect-oriented stuff like that, but I found a blaster at Walmart marked down to $17.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if Druw Jones was Andruw's son. Thanks for showing off the goods!
