Happy Thanksgiving!

Mondays are for TCDB (and In-Person Trades)!

Happy Monday, everyone.  I know, I know.  Today's Labor Day so you have off.  Well, my college started back last week and we always have classes on Labor Day so I get to use my worn out joke about laboring on Labor Day all day today.  Sometimes you need small victories like that to get you through the day.

Speaking of small victories, baseball card trades always feel like a victory to me because generally I'm getting rid of stuff I don't want (which is good) and taking in things I do want (also good).  With work ramping back up, I don't expect a ton of trades but at least for this past week I was able to complete a couple of swaps.

My first trade was actually an in-person trade with friend Shane.  Shane lives in the same town as I do and he's also a baseball card collector.  Like me, he has a number of player collections including Mike Mussina and Pete Alonso.  Shane offered up a pair of 2023 Topps All Aces cards for my set build in exchange for me helping him a bit with his player collections.  I'm definitely happy to get two cards closer to completing my All Aces set!

Strider has definitely been an ace this year and while Verlander isn't quite an ace in 2023 there's no denying he's been ace material for a long, long time.  Certainly a nice addition for my set build - thanks Shane!

My other trade this week did come from TCDB, specifically from user myrke:

Yep, another All Aces card for my collection.  I'm now within ten cards of completing the entire 50 card All Aces set (both 2023 Topps Series 1 and Series 2).  If you happen to have any lying around unloved, here's what I'm still looking for:

2023 Topps Wants:
Inserts:
All Aces:  29, 32, 35, 37, 38, 39, 41, 44, 47, 48

I'm still cautiously optimistic that I can finish off this set prior to 2024 - though again, with trading time dwindling for me I can use all the help I can get!

All told, being able to acquire three cards off of my want list is a good thing and definitely makes for a good week of trading.  Now, I'm off to work while you all hopefully have a lovely holiday break!

  1. I don't know if I realized that this Aces set was so big. I guess that would explain why it's been taking multiple bloggers so long to complete.
