Board Game Friday: The Results of My Board Game Secret Santa!

I'm a sucker for board games, trading, and Secret Santa projects so you better believe that I jumped at the chance to join in a recent Secret Santa.  This particular one was board game focused and it was run by the good folks over at Board Game Barrage (one of my favorite board game podcasts).  I belong to Board Game Barrage's Discord page and they run what they call their "Ghost Turkey" event which is basically a Secret Santa except the lists come out around Halloween and stuff is to be mailed by around Thanksgiving (hence "Ghost Turkey").  This is my second year participating (here's the results from last year's Ghost Turkey event).

For me, I was the lucky recipient of a pair of used games off of my board game want list:

Camel Up is a game that I think I'll be able to play with my son once I read the rules.  The game is a race game of sorts where the players bet on which camel will win the race.  It's a classic game of sorts that I've never tried so I'm excited to give it a spin soon.

The other game in my package was Earth, a brand new 2023 release about ecosystems in the form of an engine builder.  I tend to really enjoy engine builder style games so Earth was a game that I've had my eye on from the moment I heard about it.

Overall, I'd call this a super successful Ghost Turkey event for me.  I'll have to report back on how the two games stack up once I learn them and get them to the table (I'm hoping each will get played by the time Christmas rolls around)!

PS:  For the month of December, I am currently planning on doing my Top 50 Board Games of 2023.  I do hope you'll come back and visit each Friday throughout December as I count down my list!
