Barry Larkin
Year: 1995
Brand: Score
Parallel set: Gold Rush
Card number: 254
In 1995, Score released a rather ugly base set with an even uglier parallel set. Seeded one-per-pack, the Gold Rush parallel set takes the Score base design and adds a gold foilboard front to the design. It's busy...and ugly! There's also a big ol' "Gold Rush" stamp on the back of the card smacked right on top of the career statistics. While I do like that it's easy to find the parallels even when sorting a stack of cards upside down, I can't help but think there was a better option as to where to place that Gold Rush logo. Of course, there are all sorts of elements of this particular card design that I can't help but think could have been improved (here's my original critique of Larkin's base card from 1995 Score).

This card is pretty cool. I read your critique about them cropping out the 2nd baseman's leg... and the gold foil helps with that. Collectors can now focus on Larkin on this parallel.
