Another day, another box of 2024 Topps Allen & Ginter! After today, I'll be down to my final two boxes in my case but let's not dwell on that...instead, let's dive right into box #10 beginning, as usual, with our box topper.
Box 10:
Box 10 started off with a standard cabinet box topper of Jasson Dominguez.
I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'll be collecting the box toppers, though right now I can say that I think I'm leaning towards "not this year."
Upon ripping my first pack in box 10, I realized right away that I had found the "hot box" in the case. Basically, instead of standard base cards a hot box is full of foil base cards instead. It's a gimmick that Topps has done for a number of years now and while I haven't (yet?) tried to build a hot box base set, I do kind of like the look of the shiny Ginter base cards! The highlight of the box for me was this Barry Larkin card:
Next, the full-sized base parallels:
Now that I have the Chrome version of the Skenes card, maybe I ought to try and build out that set? Actually, on second thought, maybe not since I've already committed myself to trying to build the Chrome Refractor set this year instead (and thus, the Lindor was the best of this batch for me)!
Moving to the minis:
The box produced three more black bordered minis (which I didn't scan) to go along with a nice smattering of mini inserts, plus a Bryce Harper mini Chrome card. I've decided that I'm going to try and build the mini Chrome set as well so that Harper will quickly be slotted into my set binder!
Finally, the three promised hits:
Yeah, this was a good box for sure! Another framed autograph plus my first Rip Card of the case (a Tom Seaver #/199). As of the time of writing this post, I haven't decided whether or not I want to rip the Seaver card. I'm leaning toward ripping it based on recent eBay sales but I think I need to think it over a bit longer.
I still have two more boxes to go, so stay tuned to the blog for even more Ginter goodies coming up soon.
Interested to see if you rip the Seaver or not. Tough call. I'd have to sleep on it too if it were my call.
