Today, I'm excited to bust open my third box of 2024 Allen & Ginter from my recent case purchase. So far, I've had one amazing box and one dud of a box. On which side of that scale will box #3 land, I wonder?
Box 3:
As usual, let's begin with the first thing you see when you open a fresh box of Ginter - the box topper.
For the third box in a row, I landed a basic box topper though for the first time it was a player from a team other than the Dodgers.
My box produced five full-sized parallels of note including a lovely Chrome Refractor of Roberto Clemente.
I admit to having no idea who Kid Laroi is nor do I know who Xander Schauffele is. Schauffele plays golf according to his card back while Kid Laroi is a singer/songwriter. I love Allen & Ginter for the various oddball inclusions in the set, even if I don't always know who the people are!
My mini parallels were a stronger batch despite me only getting three of note:
The two black bordered cards are fine but you can't beat a mini Chrome Shohei Ohtani!
Sticking with the minis, here are my mini inserts from the box:
Yep, my second of the rather rare Got the Itch insert! This one is supposed to smell like bacon when you rub it (I'd say it smells more like some strange combination of chemicals). I'm also happy to report that I got my first World's Tallest Mountains mini!
Once again, the mini inserts are the main draw for me but at least this box did produce a few nice proper hits as well. We've got World Series phenom Freddie Freeman plus a pair of framed relics:
I love, love, love the framed relics and getting two in the same box almost feels like I hit a mini lottery! Even better, one of my framed relics is of Harmon Killebrew - not a guy you find in a lot of modern card releases!
That does it for the third box of the case. As it stands right now, I'd say two of my three boxes thus far have been excellent, making for a super fun case rip to date. I can only hope the good times keep rolling as I move into the middle portion of the break!
Nice assortment there. I can say that Xander Schauffele's card is a great one to pull. He's been a top young golfer for two or three years now, and he won two major championships this past year!
ReplyDeleteCalling The Kid Laroi a singer/songwriter is a lot like calling Jean-Claude Van Damme an actor. That seems to be what he’s trying to do, but lord knows how successful he is at it
ReplyDeleteNice Freeman. I like the framed relic look, but still not crazy about the base cards. Also I sense repetition in the mini insert themes. ... Schauffele is one of the top pro golfers around. I know who Kid Laroi is but avoid that kind of music like the plague.
ReplyDeleteA. No idea who Schauffele or Laroi are either.
ReplyDeleteB. Nice timing on pulling that Freeman. I know it's been three full seasons... and a WS MVP later... but I'm still adjusting to seeing him with the Dodgers on cards.
Nice overall so far, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking Guerrero box topper and Alonso mini cards. Both are players that I collect.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. No halo around the text on the full-size black parallels but there is a halo on the minis.
