Happy Monday, everyone. At least this is a short work week for many of us! With that in mind, there's no time to waste, let's dig right into my overflowing mailbag from last week's TCDB trades.
We'll begin with a trade with user BristolBob:
I have to admit, I kind of love these "scratch and sniff" cards called Got the Itch from this year's Ginter set. Sure, the idea is juvenile but hey, card collecting is juvenile at its core so who am I to hold that against the concept? I will also admit to immediately rubbing the card and seeing if I could smell the BBQ. Final result? Vague notes of the smell of barbeque sauce!
Next up, another simple swap this time with user emw362:
That's a Ballpark Bites card of Cotton Candy (which unfortunately doesn't have the same scratch and sniff treatment that the Got the Itch cards have. I'll also say that I'm no fan of cotton candy, probably my least favorite food option in the entire set checklist! Still glad to have the card for my set build, however.
My next package was actually a follow-up package from user pinfit:
We had originally completed a trade a week or two ago where I was to receive all of the remaining Mini Bobbing Head cards that I needed from the 1998 Collector's Choice set. However, when the trade package arrived I found that the Nomar Garciaparra card was missing. Luckily, it was just an oversight on pinfit's side of things and he quickly dispatched the missing card for me. And with the card now officially in my possession, it's another set that I can mark down as completed! Woo!
The next package was slightly larger in size - I ended up trading for two needed cards from user Misfits138:
One of the great things about TCDB is that I can work out trades that involve some of the newest releases (2024 Ginter) as well as old stuff that most people have long since forgotten about (1997 Metal) in the same transaction. I'm slowly working my way through the '97 Metal Universe set - a set that I really ought to add to my want list on the blog but I still haven't... Oh well, most trades are happening over on TCDB these days anyhow. As for the Chrome mini, I'm nowhere close to completing that set yet but the chase has been fun thus far. Hopefully, you'll see plenty more Chrome minis in upcoming TCDB mail days as the year 2024 begins to wrap-up.
We'll keep the Metal Universe train rolling with one of my larger swaps from last week, this one with user TimR.
Tim sent me 19 needed Metal Universe cards plus a single mini from this year's A&G set. Once again, combining the old stuff and new stuff in a single transaction!
Next, we continue with the shiny theme though this time we are back to 2024 Allen & Ginter thanks to a trade with user TnTitan1:
That's a nice Yordan Alvarez Chrome Refractor to go with a pair of Chrome minis. Yes, I'm stupid enough to try and collect both the Chrome Refractor set and the Chrome mini set this year.
PHEW. That's a lot of cards to sort, scan, and write up. However, I'm only halfway through the mailbag from last week. That's right, six packages scanned with six more waiting in the wings for me to get to. I think I'm going to have to split this trade recap post up into two parts as this one is definitely long enough already...so look for a second TCDB weekly recap post later this week (once my fingers and scanner recover from today's post). Have a great week!
I still cant get a handle on Metal. Sometimes they're really cool, sometimes kinda creepy.
ReplyDeleteJust purchased my first Got The Itch card this weekend. Picked up the pineapple for a side PC. Excited to have it in hand and take a whiff.
