Well, we've finally made it out of January. You know the saying:
Thirty days has September,
April, June, and November,
All the rest have thirty-one,
Save February at twenty-eight,
But leap year, coming once in four,
February then has one day more. And also January has fifty-six daysand all of them are gray.
Okay, fine, I might have added in those last two lines but man, there's a lot of truth in there! After a cold, gray January I'm more than happy to turn the page to February (another cold, gray month where I live) but at least it's shorter by three days!
Since I can't "fix" the weather to my liking, I guess I'll have to find some happiness in other places. Luckily for me, TCDB exists and trading baseball cards is definitely something that makes me happy. This past week was fairly light on returns but at least there were two days when my mailbox held a spark of joy for me!
That batch of 1997 Metal cards comes courtesy of TCDB user jlcre2003. I was able to nab them in exchange for several Topps Heritage base cards. This was great since I ended up getting four cards I still needed for a set build while simultaneously sending out more cards than I brought in. That's a net win for my collection and my storage space!
The other envelope that I received was almost identical - at least in terms of what I was trading for:
Yep, more 1997 Metal cards, this time from TCDB user Puckwich. Much like the first trade, this was another trade where I was able to unload more base cards than I received back in return. If I can keep doing that for most of my 2025 trades, this will be a good year indeed!
Here's hoping February will be good for me on the trading front. I know that Topps Series 1 comes this month and I'll be doing a group break of that over on my Discord soon.
