June is nearly over (already?!), but I still need to recap my month of May game playing over on Board Game Arena. May saw me complete 64 different games on BGA. Of those 64 games, I won 29 of them (good for a 45.3% win rate).
Here's the full list of what I got to the (virtual) tabletop in May:
As is often the case, Lost Ruins of Arnak and 7 Wonders Duel both reside at the top of my most-played list for the month. Arnak is probably my all-time favorite game, and I love the fact that it is on BGA. 7 Wonders Duel is another great game, one that I think is even better on BGA than in person (mostly because BGA does all the card shuffling, sorting, and laying out for you)!
In terms of trying new games, I only learned one such game in May, which was Welcome to the Moon.
Welcome to the Moon is a follow-up to the wildly popular Welcome To game (which I own). Both versions of Welcome To are flip-and-write games. In Welcome to the Moon, you have more options to think about, and I find the game is much more of a "race" to the finish as opposed to Welcome To, which tends to be a bit more laid back in its gameplay. I'll also admit that I'm still quite terrible at Welcome to the Moon, clearly I don't have the efficiency puzzle down yet! That said, I liked the game well enough while playing online to then go ahead and pick up the physical version of the game from my local game store!
Overall, I'm extremely happy that Board Game Arena exists. It gives me an easy way to play lots of my favorite games and try out some new-to-me games without breaking the bank. Even better, sometimes I try a game online that then becomes one that I decide to add to my physical collection (which I'm sure makes game companies happy to hear)! All told, May was a solid month of virtual board gaming
