Over the past month or so, I've completed a couple of direct board game trades with users over on Boardgamegeek. That's great since I didn't get any bites during May's BGG Math Trade (and I was too busy at the start of June to join in June's Math Trade). Let's not focus on what I didn't do, instead let's focus on what I was able to trade!
Trade 1:
Giving:
Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico Expansions 1 & 2: The New Buildings and The Nobles
Getting:
Air, Land, & Sea
Furnace
This trade saw me ship off Puerto Rico (a game I had previously traded for) without ever actually playing the game myself. While I'm sure that sounds dumb to you, I had my reasons: I ended up backing the new version of Puerto Rico on crowdfunding ,which meant that my copy will soon be redundant. I've been wanting to try both Furnace and Air, Land, & Sea, so I figured why not make the swap. In addition, both of the games I got back have a smaller box size than what I gave up, so that's nice for storage purposes.
Trade 2:
Giving:
Theme Park Mania
Getting:
Dice Theme Park
This was a trade that I made simply to get rid of Theme Park Mania. I had backed that game on Kickstarter a while ago, and it finally arrived. I was excited to play it, but unfortunately, after a single play of the gam,e I knew that I had no desire to ever play the game again. The game had nice components, but the rules were such that I felt the game was broken. Even if you played the way I think the game was intended, it was still a game that I simply didn't enjoy. As for the game I got back in return, I know nothing about Dice Theme Park other than it isn't the most highly rated game. That being said, it's got to be better than Theme Park Mania, right?!
