Picking Up Minis (and Happy New Year)!

With the release of the 2025 Topps Allen & Ginter set earlier this month, I'm now in all-out mode trying to collect the various mini insert sets!  I've been as active as I can be over on TCDB, sending out trade proposals, but I'm also spending some time on eBay looking for potential deals.  More specifically, for now, I'm looking for larger lots of minis on eBay.  I figure I can keep what I need, and any duplicate minis can go as more TCDB trade bait to (hopefully) acquire any remaining cards that I'm still missing.

I recently won a lot of 16 minis on eBay (spread across four different mini insert sets).  I think there is at least one duplicate in each of the sets, but again, that's alright for now, as I still have a ton of other minis to try to track down via trades/sales!

50 Fish from Global Waters:

One of my favorite mini insert sets of the year, I love the variety of sea life present in this set.  I'm also a sucker for fish cards, so yeah, this is a set right up my alley!

State Birds:

This set is the obligatory 50-card set based on US States that Topps seems to be putting in most A&G sets these days.  I don't hate it, but birds aren't really my thing.

Light the Night:

I fully expect this set to be the best-looking set once it's complete and in binder pages.  I love the vibrant colors and the almost watercolor filter that Topps used.  This is certainly a surprise favorite set of mine for the year!

Beachin' It:

Some set has to be my least favorite, and I think for 2025 A&G, it's the Beachin' It set that takes that dubious honor.  I think the main problem with the set is the actual size of the card - beautiful beach scenes need a larger space for the image to actually pop.  Many of the beach images in this set are so small and squashed that you can't make much out, and certainly you can't say it's a gorgeous-looking beach if you only go by the shrunken image!  This set should have been a box topper set; then it would have really popped!

That's it for that eBay purchase.  It's certainly nice to get a slew of minis all at once, and it's nice to start making solid progress in filling in all of the empty spots in my set binder pages!

With the purchase now complete, I want to take a quick moment to wish everyone reading this a safe and happy New Year!  Here's to 2026!
