According to an AP source, Ken Griffey Jr. has agreed to terms with the Mariners (which is a bit of a surprise since it was previously reported he'd be signing with the Braves). Apparently, the deal with the Braves broke down and Seattle swooped in and nabbed "the kid."
As a Reds fan (and a Griffey fan), I wish Ken the best in Seattle. I hope the fans there realize what a special player he was/is. Perhaps the greatest untainted player of the entire steroid generation.

Well said ... and I too hope Jr has a good year. Too bad that his years as a Red were too injury prone. Who knows how many HRs he could have hit at GABP.
ReplyDeleteThis is great for the Mariners, but horrible for the Braves. They had a league low 27 homers in 2008. Who do you think they will sign?
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. I'll be happy to see him sporting a M's hat again.
ReplyDeleteWillie Mays supposedly told Junior to return to Seattle to procure his legacy
