My Barry Larkin Collection 05: 1989 Score

Barry Larkin
Year:
1989
Brand: Score
Card Number: 31

The 1989 Score set is a rather typical '80s set. Plain and simple with colors that simply don't go with the picture! That said, this is one of my favorite early Larkin cards. I don't particularly care for the Christmas themed color palette, but I like the action shot on the front and the close-up on the back. In my humble opinion, that's really the best way to do cards - you satisfy those that like action shots and those that like the close ups...and for set collectors, the set looks good on each side of a 9-pocket page!

I also like the Cincinnati Reds logo with the running baseball man, Mr. Redlegs I think his name is. Seriously, how can you not love that logo?

  2. That logo is The Reds Running Man. He stood guard over the Big Red Machine from 72 until 92. Three World Championships. Not too bad.
Mr. Redlegs was brought back in about 03 I think.
