Phlogging: Asia-Pacific vs. Europe

From Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport, PA.

I attended the Asia-Pacific drubbing of Europe in the first game of the first round of international play at the Little League World Series. If you've never been to the LLWS, I highly recommend it, even if it is for one of the early round games! (Admission is free, food prices are reasonable...though they are quite a bit higher than they used to be.)

A view from the third base side of Lamade Stadium.

Another quick at bat for the European team...

The Asia-Pacific team won handily...16-0 in fact.

The Asia-Pacific cheering section. They had horns, chants, flags, you name it. It was a lot like an international soccer match...at least in that one section.

12 nothing after 2 innings...you had to feel bad for the European team. Imagine traveling all the to the United States only to get beat up that badly in your first game on the big stage. Ouch.

Always ready - you don't see Little Leaguers loafing after fly balls or generally not caring like the "pros."

Hard to get nice pictures of the players because there is that pesky fencing around the main part of the stadium.

Another team meeting, another pitching change for Europe. It didn't matter...

A view of the famous hill behind the outfield of Lamade. Places like Pittsburgh might have beautiful views of the city skyline, but it's hard to beat the view from the stands of the beautiful mountains on a sunny afternoon.

A great crowd for an early afternoon, early round game!

Good luck to all the participants in the Little League World Series!
