Delivery Time! Surprise Package from the Troll!

What to my wondering eyes should appear but a package from the Troll, so sweet, so dear.

...and that's why I was a math major in college and not a creative writer...

Anyhow, over Thanksgiving I received a package out of the blue from fellow collector extroidinaire "the Troll" from the Collective Troll blog.

Let's see what the package contained:

2009 Topps Heritage:
433. Carlos Gomez
440. Elijah Dukes
454. Frank Thomas
471. Brad Ausmus

I'm now missing only 27 of the short prints from the '09 Heritage (low series) set. I'm still missing a couple of insert cards plus a TON of the chrome cards though - so if you have any for trade let me know!

2008 Topps Heritage:
434. Scott Kazmir

I'm only missing 16 of the short prints from the combined low & high series '08 Topps Heritage set. I'm also still missing a few of the insert cards and four of the black back variation cards. Again, any help is appreciated - this set has been a slooooooooow go as far as completing it is concerned!

2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces:
120. Joe Carter

Another set I'd like to finish off, this one is still missing 17 cards - all short prints of course...it's a common theme with my sets!

2008 Upper Deck Relic:
UDJ-BP. Brandon Phillips

This wasn't a card on my want list per se - but it's an awesome card of one of my favorite Reds! I never seem to pull Reds relics (and I know I bought enough of the '08 Upper Deck set that I should have gotten at least one Red)! This instantly goes into the "favorite relics" category for me.

1987 Topps metal cap thing:
30. Eric Davis

And finally, the strangest of all the items in the envelope - this is a metal cap type thing produced by Topps in 1987. It's a pretty cool thing, and I bet having the entire set would be quite neat - though I don't know how you'd store the thing! This particular Topps issue is brand new to me - it reminds me a bit of POGs, though I never got caught up in that particular craze (thank goodness).

Thanks a lot Troll - and I'll be keeping an eye out for your want list as well with the hopes of returning the favor sometime soon! And for anyone else, if you'd like to work out a trade please check out my want list and make an offer!

  1. The Topps coins can be expensive to store, but everything that you need to do it already exists. There are square cardboard sleeves with a circle cut out just the right size and those go in specially made pocket pages. You can find all of the stuff online or at a coin collecting shop. The prices are probably much lower online.

  2. I used to get those coins as a kid. Topps actually released a collectors binder for them as well, kind of a tri-fold display for the whole set.

  3. Nachos, glad you liked them!!! I couldn't believe I had dupes of 2009 SPs considering how many I needed. I figured that you would appreciate them and I figured there was little chance of you getting those cards from another source, that is why I just sent them, plus surprises are nice, right? Happy collecting!
