Thanks to a trade with blog reader Charles, I managed to knock a card off the 1991 Score set needs AND acquire a new Barry Larkin card that I didn't previously own.
The 1991 Score set can perhaps best be described as HUGE and eccentric. This particular Larkin card is #505 in the set (and there are other Barry Larkin cards in the set). The front of the card features an acrobatic throw by Larkin surrounded by a bright blue border. The back of the card features a head shot of Larkin as well as the complete Major League batting records of Larkin (5 years by 1991). Perhaps the best piece of information on the back is a quote by teammate Eric Davis about Larkin, "He us a right handed Tony Gwynn...he has great bat control, hits balls where they are pitched and uses all the fields...I also like his quiet leadership - leadership by example." That's some mighty high praise for a guy who had only been in the big leagues for 5 years at that point!
