1995 Topps Stadium Club - Pack 01

It's always exciting opening a new box and pulling out the first pack...unfortunately, that means I have to scan each card since it is the first pack...so here we go!

1995 Topps Stadium Club
Pack 01:

The 1995 Topps Stadium Club features full-bleed photography along with some crazy colorful card backs (see the back of the Nagy card scanned below).  Each pack contains one Virtual Reality card and there is a 1:24 chance of a pack containing a prepaid phone card.  Of the phone cards, there are three levels (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) which are all inserted at different rates.  Unfortunately, all calls had to be made and prizes claimed by 1/1/1996 so any phone cards pulled from this box will be destined for somebody's team binder rather than wallet.

14.  Charles Nagy (Indians)

21.  Rey Sanchez (Cubs)

31.  Dean Palmer (Rangers)

37.  Orel Hershiser (Dodgers)

47.  Frank Thomas (White Sox)

I'm not sure if this is an parallel set or not.  It's clearly different than the "regular" cards but since this is the first pack of the box (and it's a set that I really don't own any of) I'll have to wait and see if there is "statistical extreme" parallels or if this is simply a strange subset.
68.  Vince Coleman (Royals)

77.  Brad Ausmus (Padres)

123.  Charlie Hayes (Rockies)

155.  Jack McDowell (White Sox)

182.  David Wells (Tigers)

197.  Ivan Rodriguez (Rangers)

209.  Jim Eisenreich (Phillies)

234.  Rafael Belliard (Braves)

99.  Matt Williams - Virtual Reality (Giants)

The virtual reality insert set plays a "what if" version of the 1994 MLB season.  As in, what if there wasn't a strike, how would each player's final statistics look?  According to the back of the card, Williams hit back-to-back shots with teammate Barry Bonds to hit his 50th home run.  Bonds you ask?  He ended the fictional season with 61 homers.
Junk card

And there it is, two packs into the group break!  This is (seriously) the last chance to get involved.  Check out the original sign-up post for teams that are still available!

  1. Cool! Startin' with the Tribe! Th Fank Thomas is part of the "Extreme Corps" subset. Cards 496-523.This is a semi-complicated set.

  2. I just found a box of '94 Stadium Club that I must have broke sometime in 1994, there are 4 unopened packs, I'm going to break them soon.

However, that's not why I'm commenting. I'm commenting because the ensuing post I'm going to write will ask:

WHY DID TOPPS CHANGE THE STADIUM CLUB LOGO AND KILL A SWEET LOOKING SET OF CARDS????? :)

    Stay tuned!
