Barry Larkin Collection 58: 1994 Fleer Flair #146

Barry Larkin
Year:  1994
Brand:  Fleer Flair
Card number:  146

Sensory overload...or else a card that really could have used 3-D technology that's become all the rage lately.  This particular Larkin card features two (different) photos of Larkin on the front, one superimposed over the other plus a garish font with a crazy large L (for Larkin) and some spikes sticking out of it.  Apparently this card doubles as a way to stop a battering ram from knocking down your house door (that and a good 'ol bucket of hot oil from the second floor window).

The back of the card features a third picture of Larkin (and this time you can see half his face) along with his statistics.  The card itself is on rather nice card stock so it does feel a bit more "special" than the average card from 1994.  I do know that not only did I not buy any of these cards back when they came out, I wasn't even aware of their existence as a kid (other than mention in a Tuff Stuff price guide perhaps).

  1. This is one of the nicer base sets of the 90's... I liked the variety of photos they used on the cards and the card stock was an added bonus.
