A few weeks ago (or maybe more), I completed a trade with Colbey from Cardboard Collections. At the same time, I joined Colbey's group break nabbing the Reds with the hopes of adding to my Barry Larkin Collection. The entire package, both trade and group break, showed up in a box the other day and let me say, it was a fun box to open!
First, the trade portion.
Here's what I got:
2010 Topps:
Cards Your Mother Threw Out:
CMT-22. Johnny Bench
It's always a nice surprise to get a Red AND have it be a card that I needed for a set I'm collecting. I don't generally look at the missing card players until close to the end of set completion, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn this was card #22 in the set!
2010 Topps Allen & Ginter:
Regular Mini:
345. Stephen Drew
I'm about halfway through collecting the regular back mini set but it seems almost all trades have dried up. I guess I'll have to turn to eBay to try and finish off the set...
World's Biggest:
WB1. Blue Whale
This marks the last of the five retail blaster World's Biggest cards. Since I spent so much on hobby boxes of Ginter this year, I didnt' allow myself to buy a single pack nor blaster...so I've got to give a big thanks to all the traders out there who helped me complete the first five retail cards. I've still got the next twenty cards on my want list...but I'm not sure I have the energy nor desire to chase the cards with much enthusiasm.
Autographs:
AGA-DM. Daniel McCutchen
As someone who roots for the Pirates (except when they play the Reds of course), I know that this is the wrong McCutchen to have the autograph of. Even so, it's still a cool card and another great addition to my "hits" collection of Ginter cards!
AGA-GS1. Glenn Singleman
Although the photo makes it look like Singleman is being launched out of a cannon or something, he's actually a base jumper. I will say I find it surprising that his signature is that sloppy...you'd think for a guy who will (probably) never be featured on a trading card again he would have at least wanted a legible signature!
I'll show off a few of my favorites from the group break portion of cards next time!
