Group Break Results: Kansas City Royals

A number of people asked me to update the group scoreboard - seeing how there was such interest, I've decided to do one better:  I'm going to show off the best card, worst card, plus any interesting cards (in my eyes at least) of all the group break slots, one at a time.

Kansas City Royals
Claimed by Smedcards

Best card(s):

The best photo from the Royals pile is of Jeff King from the 1999 Pacific set - check out the bat in the photo! It looks like it is hovering in mid-air after King tossed it aside.  Good stuff by the photographer.

Worst card(s):

The EX Beltran card goes down as the worst card because it represents everything bad about the bad MLB teams - whenever they finally get some semblance of talent - they get rid of it for more prospects.  Beltran is one example (and for about eleventy-bazillion more examples see:  Pirates).  On the plus side, this is another really nice card out of the EX box, for every write-up I do, I find it difficult to choose anything except the EX cards as "best card."

Card(s) of interest:

The Sweeney card cracks me up - he looks like a little kid who just stole a cookie off the counter and is trying to act innocent...  As for the group break, the Royals were fairly well represented when it came to base cards (29 different) but fell a bit short in the insert category (only 2).

Final Tally (after all non-insert duplicates removed):
Base:  29
Inserts/Short Prints/Parallels:  2
Relics/Autos:  0

    after choosing the "best" card based on the tossed bat, I thought you'd at least mention the shattered bat in your "worst" card pick
