Group Break: 1998 Pinnacle Performers - Pack 08

It's time to bust another pack from the group break boxes, this time let's crack open another one from the 1998 Pinancle Performers box.  (PS:  Don't worry, Pack Wars will be back soon - I simply don't have time to bust multiple packs plus provide scintillating commentary on each of the matchups right now!)

1998 Pinnacle Performers
Pack 08

12.  Nomar Garciaparra (Red Sox)
20.  Darin Erstad (Angels)
30.  Roberto Alomar (Orioles)

31.  Randy Johnson (Mariners)
76.  Pat Hentgen (Blue Jays)
93.  Mark Grudzielanek (Expos)
120.  Fernando Tatis (Rangers)
4 of 20.  Frank Thomas - Launching Pad (White Sox)

You have to love shiny cards with planet-like objects on them right?  If so, the Launching Pad insert cards are the cards for you!  (I actually like these quite a bit, they are just goofy enough that I am able to appreciate them!)
38 of 50.  The number 58

There was some sort of contest where you had to get both the correct league leader in homeruns card AND the card depicting the correct number of homers hit in order to win some sort of prize.  In this case, the first 1000 entrants won an exclusive Juna Gonzalez Swing for the Fences autographed card.  After the first 1000 winners mailed in their cards, all the remaining winners got a 10-pack of limited edition Swing for the Fences player cards.  ALL winners were entered in a drawing to win tickes to the 1999 All-Star game in Fenway Park.  Unfortunately, the contest expired on March 1, 1999 so no one can still win those tickets to the '99 All-Star game!  As for the group break, I'll random off all of these inserts first to any team piles that didn't get at least one insert, and then if any more remain, I'll random them off amongst all the teams.  It's my hope that every team gets something "interesting" at least - even if that means a baseball card of simply a number!
