There are only five packs left in the box - and a hit has already been found. There can't possibly be TWO hits hiding in the box, especially since it's a retail box can there? Let's crack open three more packs and see what happens...
Pack 20:
55. Carl Crawford
67. Mark Buehrle
83. Brian Roberts
197. Dan Haren
214. Warren Spahn
133. Andrew Bailey - Bazooka back
Well, it's not a hit, but the Bailey Bazooka back card is available for trade. Otherwise, not a lot great in that particular pack! I do like the Warren Spahn painting however - not for the likeness (or lack thereof) of Spahn, but rather for the stadium and flags in the background. It makes Spahn look larger than life - and that's fairly fitting for a pitcher of his stature.
Pack 21:
2. Grady Sizemore
23. Shane Victorino
63. Aramis Ramirez
72. Jorge Posada
117. Jason Marquis
225. Mike Schmidt
I guess the Sizemore is the best card in the pack - but honestly, this pack sucked. A pair of Phillies, a Yankee, no short prints or other inserts. Yuck, yuck, and more yuck. The only redeeming factor is that I needed these cards for my set that I've decided to try and put together... One more pack for this post - could there be something good in this one?
Pack 22:
59. Wandy Rodriguez
107. Mark Teixeira
155. Vernon Wells
174. Marlon Byrd
187. Joe Saunders
289. Johnny Mize
Checklist 1
The Mize card is part of the Retired Stars Revisited short print subset. It's a pretty boring painting but at least that's one fewer short print that I have to try and track down now!
Overall, the three packs weren't terribly exciting - though the one short print did make me a bit happier than I was after opening packs 20 and 21. There are only two packs left - and guesses on whether or not I managed to pull a second hit out of the retail box?
