As I've mentioned a couple of times, I recently mailed my younger brother the last few cards he needed for his set. In return, he said he'd send me some cards that I needed... Well, his trade box arrived the other day - and let me tell you what, it was loaded. So loaded, in fact, that I need to do two posts to cover the entire thing!
To start with, he sent me 106 diamond parallel cards. He specifically asked me if he was "eligible" for my contest to which I replied "why wouldn't you be?" Now, seeing as how he's related to me, I guess I can understand the question...but it is my contest...and the idea was for me to "bribe" people so that they send me diamonds...so as far as I can see, it's all fair. However - we did decide on a compromise. IF he were to be selected to win once (and that's not guaranteed, though he does have way more entries now than anyone else...but Series 2 isn't out yet so it can all change drastically), that's fine. After his first selection though, his name will be removed from the contest so that other people have a shot at the prizes! Furthermore, he added another complete set to the prize pool (the 50 card Topps Town set from this year). I'd say that's more than fair.
Now, on to the good stuff - the cards!
First up, the 106 diamond parallel cards.
I needed a bunch of these - the rest will either go for trade bait or as another contest prize. We'll see I guess. If you are looking for diamond parallels though, let me know - I've got a TON of extras now!
Next up, the 50 card Topps Town set.
As I mentioned above, this is going directly into the prize pool for the contest! The updated prize list is as follows:
So far, that's been 100+ diamond parallels plus 50 Topps Town cards - what more could there be? Well, how about a complete set for me?
MBC1. Mickey Mantle
MBC2. Jackie Robinson
MBC3. Babe Ruth
The three cards above make up the small set that can only be found in those value pack things found in retail stores. I didn't have any of these since I didn't buy any of the value packs - so once again, these were much appreciated! Each of the three cards really "pops" when you look at 'em, definitely cool - and a great addition to my 2011 set binder! Thanks a lot bro!
