Group Break #5: 2000 Topps Tek: Packs 14 - 17 (Lots 'o Nomars!)

At this point in the break, I've finished off the entire box of Upper Deck Jumbo packs (see the last post) and I'm nearing the end of the other four boxes.  Judging by the number of packs left, the final group break posts should be completed tomorrow (or else Thursday at the very latest).  For now, let's plow through another four packs - this time from the Topps Tek box (which has been a fun box to open by the way - and an additional thanks to Baseball Card Exchange for sponsoring my break)!

We ended up with 19 cards in the four packs which means that we got three extra cards!  The extra cards are a nice little bonus - especially in a set like Tek where each player has multiple versions of the card - it's quite rare to get a true duplicate!

2000 Topps Tek:
Packs 14 - 17:

3-7. Juan Gonzalez - Rangers
5-8.  Cal Ripken Jr. - Orioles
12-4.  Shawn Green - Dodgers

12-9.  Shawn Green - Dodgers
14-2.  Bernie Williams - Yankees
16-2.  Greg Maddux - Braves

19-2.  Jeff Bagwell - Astros
20-4.  Sammy Sosa - Cubs
22-14.  Randy Johnson - Diamondbacks
25-14.  Orlando Hernandez - Yankees
29-1.  Roberto Alomar - Indians
33-5.  Nomar Garciaparra - Red Sox

33-14.  Nomar Garciaparra - Red Sox
36-13.  Adam Piatt - Athletics
39-15.  Pat Burrell - Phillies

As you can see by the Nomar and the Shawn Green cards, each player in the set has multiple poses for the different card parallels.  According to the set checklist, there are 20 different versions of each card (with the last five variations having different special colored patterns).

We also got two serial numbered cards in the packs:
44-19.  Brett Myers - Phillies (#0694/2000)

45-19.  Rick Asadoorian - Red Sox (#1869/2000)

Finally, we ended up with a pair of inserts:

DramaTek Performers:
DP4.  Nomar Garciaparra - Red Sox

ArchiTek:
A7.  Mike Piazza - Mets
