Gypsy Queen Break: Box 1 - Pack 8

Here we are again - ready to open another pack.  Thus far, there are a bunch of teams doing quite well - but where there are winners, there are losers.  The losers so far include:  Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Colorado Rockies who are all getting shut out thus far in terms of cards!  There are also a bunch of teams (including my Reds) with only a single base card to their name.  Of course, it's not all doom and gloom since the current pack marks the one-third mark of the box...there's plenty of time for a loser to turn into a winner!

Box 1 - Pack 8:
47.  Jimmy Rollins - Phillies

And wouldn't you know it - just like that the Phillies are on the board.  We are down to three losers...
122.  Derrek Lee - Orioles
132.  David Murphy - Rangers
148.  Carlos Quentin - White Sox
168.  Alex Gordon - Royals
189.  Mike Aviles - Royals
297.  Grady Sizemore - Indians

For the second time this pack, a previously shut-out team gets a notch in the card column.
Regular mini:
96.  Ubaldo Jimenez - Rockies

Wow!  Three of the four teams with no cards ended up with a card in this pack.  Just think, if I had opened the packs in a different order this particular phenomenon may never have happened.  At this point, only the Cubs are without any type of card...and I can spoil the secret right now - they will still be without at least one card when this pack is over...
Framed Paper - Bronze:
Duke Snider - Dodgers (#ed 201/999)

I could only laugh when I opened this pack and saw it was yet another Dodger!  I will say, however, that this card is gorgeous!   The scan doesn't do it justice - Ryan G. will definitely enjoy it once it arrives in the mail.
Home Run Heroes:
HH5.  Carlos Pena - Rays

I think of all the inserts I've seen so far, the Home Run Heroes are the least impressive.  Maybe it's the green border or something, but for whatever reason I like the other insert sets better.  That being said, this is still a nice card - and it's probably fun for Rays fans to see Pena do so terrible for his new team...even if his struggles are currently hurting one of my fantasy teams immensely!
