Group Break #6: Multiple Packs per Post: Fleer Showcase Packs 8 - 10

By now, I'm guessing most of you realize how I do my group breaks.  I start off posting one pack every few hours (scattering other posts, especially trade posts throughout).  Then, once I get a little bit ahead, I start posting more than one pack per post to keep the show moving along.  Well, the good news is that I am finally a bit ahead - so you get multiple packs in this post (and hopefully most future posts).

2000 Fleer Showcase:
Packs 8, 9, & 10:

1.  Alex Rodriguez - Mariners
9.  Adrian Beltre - Dodgers
43.  J.D. Drew - Cardinals
50.  Jason Kendall - Pirates
52.  Jermaine Dye - Royals
58.  Greg Maddux - Braves

I know there are a lot of Maddux and Braves collectors out there so this scan is for you.
77.  Steve Finley - Diamondbacks
86.  Juan Gonzalez - Tigers
90.  Kevin Brown - Dodgers
91.  Ben Grieve - Athletics
97.  Kerry Wood - Cubs
98.  Geoff Jenkins - Brewers

Finally, each of three packs happened to contain an insert:

9 of 10 NS.  Noise of Summer:  Derek Jeter - Yankees

The Noise of Summer inserts are seeded 1:10 packs.  This is our second Noise of Summer insert card from the box, so I don't expect we'll end up with any more.

4 of 10 FA.  Final Answer:  Sammy Sosa - Cubs

The Final Answer inserts are also seeded 1:10 packs.  The back of the card features 4 questions (playing into the Millionaire theme without infringing on copyrights I suppose).  The questions don't have multiple choices - let's see how you do:
1.  Who was the first player to hit 60-or-more home runs in consecutive seasons?
2.  What pitcher gave up Sammy Sosa's first Major League home run?
3.  What players have had back-to-back 140 RBI seasons since 1930?
4.  What is Sammy's most surprising dream?
**Answers at the end of the post**
I guess the first three questions are good, but the last one is a little creepy.  I think if you know Sosa's dreams you shouldn't be buying baseball cards, you should be locked up.

10 of 10 LS.  License to Skill:  Alex Rodriguez - Mariners

Woah Fleer, you really went crazy on this set didn't you?  Somehow, in the Sarah Palin map target aftermath, I doubt this particular insert set would get the green light today.  Even so, it's kind of fun to pull some die-cut cards, even if these are somewhat lame die-cuts (just the top of the card is rounded). The License to Skill cards are seeded 1:20 packs meaning this is a box hit of sorts for the Mariners!

Answers to the Sosa questions (as stated on the card):
1.  Sammy Sosa (this one was easy)
2.  Roger Clemens
3.  Mark McGwire, Andres Galarraga, and Sammy Sosa
4.  To win the Powerball Lotto and buy the Cubs
