Group Break 7: 2006 Bazooka - Pack 2 (First Hit!)

As the post title suggests, we found our first hit of the break (out of a promised 10 hits total).  Who is it?  Read on...

2006 Topps Bazooka:
Pack 2:

34.  CC Sabathia - Indians
86.  Billy Wagner - Mets
88.  Austin Kearns - Reds
The first Reds card of the break (well, the first Reds-only card of the break, they did have half a card in the first Archives pack).
90.  Chipper Jones - Braves

150.  Carlos Beltran - Mets
214.  John Koronka - Cubs

Blue parallel:
28.  Torii Hunter - Twins

You don't get a chunk parallel in packs with a relic card (obviously).

Relic:
BBA-CB.  Craig Biggio - Astros

The back of the card talks about Biggio knowing the cardinal rules of bunting (level bat, slightly flexed legs, etc).

That's a really nice big swatch of cloth in the B for the relic...and the color of the relic matches the shirt that Biggio is pictured wearing.  Sure, it might just be coincidence but I still like it.  Actually, looking at the scan you wouldn't know it, but the cloth really is a fairly bright red color!

Stay tuned, plenty more packs (and hits) are promised!

Also, because I like numbers:  24 out of the 30 teams have at least one card after opening a mere 7 packs.  That's pretty good distribution.  The Yankees lead with five base cards while the Dodgers are close with four.   The Pirates have three and then no one else has more than two.  So far, we've found three parallels, two inserts, and of course, the one hit from this pack.

  1. And the good thing is my two teams account for zero cards so far, unless I get the four player feature Kaline and Cash.

Wait, I meant "bad" thing. Not good. :)
