Group Break 7: How About Two Packs of Topps Archives for the Morning?

2001 Topps Archives:
Packs 6 & 7:

306.  Kirk Gibson - Tigers
318.  Satchell Paige - Browns

This one is going to Baltimore.  Hopefully, I got my baseball history correct here.
371.  Minnie Minoso - White Sox
441.  Orioles Celebrate - Orioles
338.  Early Wynn - White Sox
442.  Tony Perez - Reds
309.  Orel Hershiser - Dodgers
300.  Ron Guidry - Yankees
382.  Johnny Bench - Reds

One of my all-time favorite cards - well, the original is my favorite but the reprint is pretty cool too!
429.  Earl Weaver - Orioles
Remember when the Orioles were struggling for cards?  Not as much any more...
381.  Willie Stargell - Pirates
413.  Jack Clark - Red Sox
254.  Larry Bowa - Phillies

268.  Tommy John - Indians
287.  George Foster - Giants

That's a look that could kill - yikes!
249.  Herb Score - Indians

Well, I'm happy with those two packs since I landed a pair of Reds, including Bench.  It was the George Foster card, however, that was the highlight of the two packs...that might be the scariest face ever found on a baseball card - I would challenge anyone to find a scarier photo on a card!

  1. Back from vacation and catching up on the group break posts. Looks like this will be a Cards only box for us as I doubt there are any Rays on this checklist. Do you know what the year / team cutoff on this product is? I'm guessing the Rays, Rockies, Expos, Marlins, etc... are all in the same boat and have a 3 box break?

  2. That's probably correct. I haven't paid a lot of attention to what teams were or weren't represented though obviously the older teams are the main teams in the set. I hope people look at the second team as more of a "bonus" team than anything else, that way, if you get something cool with the extra team great - but if not, no big deal hopefullY!
