Group Break 7: The Last Packs Post (final 4 packs)!

The end of the group break is finally here!  Although you haven't seen the final four packs (you will when you scroll down), I would love to hear your opinions.  Did you like the boxes?  Were there any you'd like to see again (or perhaps avoided forever)?  Sound off in the comments (or via email)!

The Baseball's Best inserts are seeded 1:8 leather packs.  They have a fairly clean, crisp design - I like 'em!

And there it is - our final card (and final hit) of the group break!  By my count, we ended up with TWELVE hits spread across nine different teams.  I'm hopeful people are satisfied with their personal haul (though of course there are always "winners" and "losers" in a group, that's the nature of the gamble I guess).

Now that the group break is over, here are the final statistics:

And because I'm a math guy, let's break it down a little bit:

Losers:

Orioles (16 base cards were a respectable total but no inserts, parallels, etc. made for a boring break)
Rockies (9 base cards was the second lowest total of any team plus nothing else)
Royals (10 base cards plus a single parallel didn't exactly inspire greatness)
Padres (12 base cards plus nothing else)
Rays (8 base cards plus 2 parallels, at least they made double digits!)

Winners:
Red Sox (23 base cards, 2 parallels, 2 inserts/short prints, 1 serially numbered card, and 2 relics!)
White Sox (25 base cards, 1 parallel, and 2 relics)
Cubs (21 base cards, 2 parallels, 2 short prints/inserts, 1 relic, and 1 autograph)
Astros (26 base cards, 1 parallel, 2 short prints/inserts, 2 serially numbered cards, and 1 relic)
Yankees (42 base cards, 4 parallels, 6 inserts/short prints, and a relic)
Giants (21 base cards, 2 parallels, 1 insert, and one serially numbered relic card)

Most of the other teams fell somewhere in the middle.  Even most of the "loser" teams did better in this break than they usually do in most breaks.  Of course, remember that each slot was for two teams (and only the Orioles were a first pick team that ended up in the loser category).

Of course, I should note - the totals above do NOT count any of the multi-team cards.  I will random those off and mail out the cards over the next few days.  In fact, by the time you read this post a few of the packages will have already been mailed out!

Comments

  1. Sweet I got the worst performing 2nd team two breaks in a row. At least this time I got my Rox in a trade and picked a team that did better first.

    Thanks for another great break.

  2. Here's my official pitch to claim the four-player card that had two Tigers. Just sayin' :)

Thanks for the great break. I was very happy and surprised with the nice Cubs cards you pulled on my behalf!

I really enjoyed the Topps Gold Label as I had never seen those before. I also liked the idea of the Topps Archives cards, but the execution left a little to be desired with the insertion of cards from the junk wax era. It seems like a good idea to stick to more vintage for that set, but with having heritage also would probably be tough for them.
