Yesterday, in case you missed it, we landed two different autographs (including an on card auto of a retired player). I invite you to check out my archives to see who ended up with. However, that was yesterday. What goodies will today bring us? I have no idea - but I know how to find out.
Let's rip some packs!
Box 1 - Pack 7:
62. Adrian Beltre - Rangers
68. Alexei Ramirez - White Sox
85. Al Kaline - Tigers
153. B.J. Upton - Rays
161. Luis Aparicio - White Sox
194. Cal Ripken Jr. - Orioles
Not a bad way for the Orioles to get on the board. A Ripken Jr. card with the old timey Rookie Cup. Very nice!
197. Diamond parallel: Andre Dawson - Expos
18 of 20. 2011 Rookies: J.P. Arencibia - Blue Jays
The 2011 Rookies insert set is seeded 1:6 packs and is a great throwback to the late 80s All-Star sets. Unlike most of the other insert sests, the backs of the 2011 Rookies set is also true to the original. All told, I think this is a great pick-up for the Blue Jays (a team that had only one base card up until now).
Box 1 - Pack 8:
59. Duke Snider - Dodgers
70. Carlos Santana - Indians
83. Adam Wainwright - Cardinals
139. Michael Pineda - Mariners
147. Ryan Braun - Brewers
160. Stephen Strasbug - Nationals
174. Adam Jones - Orioles
T3D13. Topps 3D: Miguel Cabrera - Tigers
Now that we are a third of the way through the box, let's take stock of what's happened so far. Right now, we've landed the two promised autographs, plus a bunch of inserts. Team wise, only the Rockies, Marlins, Royals, Angels, and Padres are without at least one card. The White Sox already have five base cards while the Cardinals have a pair of parallel cards. Eleven teams have at least one insert, parallel, hit, or box topper in only 8 packs. All told, I think we are doing pretty well so far. Let's hope the good luck (and nice mixture of teams) continues with the other two-thirds of the box! Stay tuned, more packs will be coming throughout the day (probably) and the week (defnitely).
