Topps Lineage Group Break: Box 1 - Packs 15 and 16

In case you missed it, we found the promised relic in the box in the post earlier this morning (check the blog archives to see who gets it)!  As far as the box goes, we now have found our two promised autographs (one of which was a retired player and on-card) along with the promised relic.  Anything else at this point will simply be "extra"!

Pack 15:

5.  Felix Hernandez - Mariners
13.  Cal Ripken Jr. - Orioles
61.  Zach Britton - Orioles
167.  Corey Hart - Brewers
178.  Albert Pujols - Cardinals
189.  Jaime Garcia - Cardinals
1 of 20.  2011 Rookies:  Freddie Freeman - Braves

192.  Platinum Diamond:  Willie McCovey - Giants

Pack 15 brought a lot of good stuff to the Orioles and Cardinals (multiple base cards) as well as the Giants (McCovey platinum card) and the Braves (Freddie Freeman 2011 Rookie insert).   At this point, most teams have at least one card - only the Rockies, Marlins, and Royals are still without a Lineage representative.  The good news is that there is still another eight packs in this box - plus another full box in the break.  Oh, and don't forget, ALL the teams have a bunch of cards from the Upper Deck box.  In that way, I'm hopeful everyone is happy by the time the break is completed!

Pack 16 (or the:  Let's make  Ryan LaMonica extra happy pack!)

7.  Mickey Mantle - Yankees
16.  Walter Johnson - Senators
I guess this card should go to the Minnesota Twins since that's where the Senators ended up.
25.  Whitey Ford - Yankees
107.  Chad Billingsley - Dodgers
112.  Johnny Cueto - Reds
121.  Roy Halladay - Phillies
183.  Platinum Diamond:  Brian McCann - Braves

TS8.  Topps Stand-Ups:  Jason Heyward - Braves

I told you that was a good pack for Ryan.  Ryan claimed the Braves so he got both the Platinum McCann and the completely awesome stand-up card of Heyward.  It was also a pretty good pack for the Yankees as they landed a pair of legends (Mantle and Ford).

Finally, let these two packs be a lesson for all group break participants.  Up through Pack 14, the Braves had a small pile of base cards and nothing else.  A mere two packs later, and the Braves are sitting pretty with a pair of inserts (including the sweet Stand-up) and a shiny parallel.  You never know what the next pack might bring - and that's the fun of group breaks!
