Topps Lineage: Whitey Ford Printing Plate! (Come and Get it!)

It's the second-to-last Tuesday in August, which for me means it's time for the "State of the College" address followed by a Teaching Effectiveness workshop at my college.  At the college where I work, our classes begin next week - and traditionally, there is a State of the College address from the college President and other bigwigs on the Tuesday before school begins.  The day begins early in the morning - and the workshop doesn't usually wrap up until around 5:00 PM which makes for a long "first day" of school!

Anyhow, as a last hurrah before the school crunch begins, I (finally) finished opening my case of Topps Lineage, and I've got to say, it was a LOT of fun!  I don't care that many are poo-pooing this set, I like it - and I'd happily rip another case of Lineage if I could (though I have no idea what I'd do with all the base cards).  Anyhow, I'm also working on a box by box summary - a few more are in the queue for the week ahead.  However, in one of the boxes I ended up pulling my second printing plate of the year.  I'll have the full box summary that the printing plate came in up on my blog eventually, but I figured I'd advertise the plate a bit early...

Printing Plate:
25.  Whitey Ford - Yankees

Now, all my readers are probably well aware that I'm not a Yankee fan, therefore this card is going up for sale.  However, before I put it on eBay (a different Lineage Whitey Ford plate just sold for about $73), I figured I'd offer it up to my loyal blog readers (and maybe avoid eBay fees in the process).  If anyone is interested, shoot me an email with your offer.  While I will listen to trades involving cards, I'm more inclined to take the cash so as to recoup some of my case investment.  Let the bidding begin (and give me something to read about on my phone while I'm at the all-day meetings and workshops please)!

  1. Awesome card! I won't be making an offer, but wanted to comment on what a nice pull that is. Congrats!

  2. Just for the fun of it, I'll "start the bidding" at $10! And just like most auctions I bid on eBay, I'll be outbid or not meet the reserve price.

That's a nice pull. I wonder who is trashing Lineage, because other than the backs, it's a good looking base set, plus the throwback inserts are fun. If they tweaked the base set and started reprinting different inserts or other attempted sets through the years I'd keep an interest.
