Box Break: 2001 Topps Gold Label - Packs 7 & 8

The box of 2001 Gold Label has been quite a bit of fun to open.  By the time this post is complete, I'll be one-third of the way through the box.  I'm still hoping to land some of those rarer Barry Larkin parallels from the set - so if you have any for trade, let me know!

Pack 7:
1.  Adrian Beltre

45.  Jay Payton
55.  Johnny Damon
86.  Todd Zeile
103.  Todd Helton

I find it interesting that Adrian Beltre was selected to be the first card in the set.  With all the stars, it seems odd that Beltre was given that "honor."  Don't get me wrong, Beltre has had some decent years but he's nothing compared to some of the other guys (heck, even Todd Helton from this pack probably would have been a better number one card choice)!

Pack 8:
14.  Bobby Higginson
28.  Edgardo Alfonzo

58.  Jose Vidro
81.  Paul Konerko
And a class 1 parallel numbered /999
72.  Mark McGwire (#754/999)

The Class 1 parallels have a gold hue to the background and look quite snazzy.  This is the second one from the box (the other being Andruw Jones).
