Barry Larkin
Year: 2011
Brand: Topps Tier One
Card number: 81
Serial number: 075/799
The 2011 Topps Tier One set was a high end set where every single card was serially-numbered. This is the base card for Larkin (there are also a variety of parallels in the set) and is numbered out of 799. The front features a borderless design with a photo of Larkin in the field (perhaps chasing a soft liner to shortstop). The back of the card features a single line with Larkin's full career batting statistics as well as 4 items called Career Tiers.
All told, it's not the most exciting card - but in a high end set the base cards are usually throwaways anyhow. (Not for me though - I'm a set collector...of course, I can't afford high end sets like this anyhow.)

Glad to see you're back to some Larkin card posts! I love seeing some cards like this that I'd otherwise never collect, especially for Larkin!
ReplyDeleteAny chance you'll be heading to Cooperstown to see his induction in July?
I'm seriously considering it. I don't know how to get a hotel room though - I called and they said you had to get rooms for three nights at a bit over $300 per night... It's just a bit too far to drive there and back in the same day so that's disappointing...
