Group Break: 2000 Fleer Tradition: Packs 4, 5, and 6

I hope everyone is enjoying the group break (and the first lovely lady in the Women of Ginter '11 Theme Week too)!  Let's crack open three more Fleer Tradition packs, shall we?

2000 Fleer Tradition:
Pack 4:

13.  Kyle Farnsworth - Cubs
57.  Greg Maddux - Braves
98.  Mark Kotsay
169.  Francisco Cordova - Pirates
204.  Tom Gordon - Red Sox
234.  Ron Villone - Reds
273.  Will Clark - Orioles
278.  Ron Gant - Phillies
381.  John Jaha - Athletics
9 of 15 WW.  Who to Watch:  Alfonso Soriano

Not a bad pack, the Soriano is clearly the best card though - pack win goes to the Yankees which makes New York the first team to "win" more than one pack thus far.  The Kotsay card is the first Marlin pulled in the break which means only the Indians are completely shut out at this point.  Of course, we've barely begun the break so there's plenty of time!

Pack 05:
3.  AL League Leaders - RBI (Ramirez - Indians, Palmeiro - Rangers, Griffey Jr. - Mariners)
24.  Dave Borkowski / Jason Wood - Tigers
179.  Los Angeles Dodgers - Dodgers
205.  Henry Rodriguez - Cubs
223.  John Halama - Mariners
281.  Mike Piazza - Mets
348.  Royce Clayton - Rangers
413.  Michael Tejera / Ramon Castro - Marlins
440.  Award Winner:  NL MVP:  Chipper Jones - Braves

13 of 15 D.  Dividends:  Mark McGwire - Cardinals

A quick note:  As with all my breaks, any cards featuring players from multiple teams will be randomed off at the end of the break amongst the teams represented.  Thus, the AL RBI Leaders card will either go to Texas, Seattle, or Cleveland.  It could be Cleveland's first card of the break...but for now, we'll still say Cleveland has zero cards.  As for the pack winner, I guess the easy choice is the Cardinals since the best players are all on the same card (and split amongst three teams).  The Dividends cards are seeded 1:6 packs.

One more pack for this post:

Pack 06:
28.  Trevor Hoffman - Padres
214.  Ramon E. Martinez - Giants
235. Antonio Alfonseca - Marlins
242.  Cole Liniak / Jose Molina - Cubs
246.  Masato Yoshii - Mets
272.  Wilton Veras / Tomokazu Ohka - Red Sox
289.  Chuck Finley - Indians
423.  Scott Rolen - Phillies
430.  Dan Wilson - Mariners
443.  ALCS:  Derek Jeter - Yankees

The good news?  The Indians finally got their first (solo) card of the break!  The bad news is that I have no idea which team deserves to "win" this pack.  I hate to give it to the Yankees but I suppose a card celebrating their victory of the Red Sox is a pretty nice card for any Yankee fan.  Congrats to New York on their third (!) pack win (out of twelve so far)!  A 25% winning percentage is good in this particular competition!

  1. For the mixed team cards you may want to consider awarding them to primary teams, if the card has 2 players one from a picked team and one from the ramdomly awarded team - the card goes to the picked team pile. just a thought. not all mixed cards would fall into this category but I think it has a better chance to go to someone who wants the card then.

  2. That seems reasonable to me!
