A TCDB Surprise Card from mpdillard25!

Group Break: 2003 Donruss Team Heroes - Packs 6, 7, 8, and 9

If you missed the morning post, you should make sure you check it out - another hit was discovered!  That's old news now though, so let's rip open another four packs!

Pack 6:
Matt Clement - Cubs
David Eckstein - Angels
Steve Smythe - Cubs
Matt Lawton - Indians
Brandon Berger - Royals
Henry Mateo - Expos
Andy Pettitte - Yankees
Phil Nevin - Padres
Juan Gonzalez - Rangers
Brooks Robinson - Orioles
Steve Garvey - Dodgers
Pee Wee Reese - Dodgers

Glossy Parallel:  Ugueth Urbina - Red Sox

The Red Sox land their first parallel but the real winner of the pack is the Dodgers with not one, but two legends cards.  That's LA's first pack win - which means that exactly half of the 30 MLB teams have at least one pack win at this point.  As far as I am concerned, that seems to be fairly good balance.  Of course, my two teams (Reds and Twins) have 0 pack wins combined.  Blech.

Pack 7:
Erik Bedard - Orioles
Derek Lowe - Red Sox
Julio Lugo - Astros
Carlos Garcia - Padres
Pat Burrell - Phillies
Marquis Grissom - Dodgers
Bert Snow - Athletics
Shannon Stewart - Blue Jays
Carlos Guillen - Mariners
George Brett - Royals

Bob Gibson - Cardinals
Jack Morris - Tigers
Glossy Parallel:  Matt Ginter - White Sox

I couldn't decide between Brett, Gibson, or Morris as to who to give the pack win to...so I went with the White Sox and their Matt Ginter glossy parallel.  Maybe it's the "Ginter" part of Matt's name that made me declare him the winner?

Pack 8:
Julio Franco - Braves
Rafael Furcal - Braves
Carlos Pena - Tigers
Craig Biggio - Astros
Jim Thome - Indians
Brandon Duckworth - Phillies
Ryan Jamison - Mets
Fernando Vina - Cardinals
J.T. Snow - Giants
Antonio Perez - Mariners
Whitey Ford - Yankees
Mel Ott - Giants

Glossy Parallel:  Josh Towers - Orioles

Once again, a rather dull pack (at least as far as my collecting interests are concerned).  However, the Giants did fare ok with the J.T. Snow and the Mel Ott cards...I'll give them the pack win.

Pack 9:
Juan Cruz - Cubs
Alfredo Amezaga - Angels
Francis Beltran - Cubs
Josh Beckett - Marlins
Danny Graves - Reds
Adrian Hernandez - Yankees
Michael Cuddyer - Twins
Brian Lawrence - Padres
Ryan Ludwick - Rangers
Gary Carter - Mets
Billy Williams - Cubs
Glossy parallel:  Magglio Ordonez - White Sox
Autograph:  Mark Teixeira - Rangers #48/50

Woah!  The Donruss Team Heroes box already provided us with a card numbered 1 out of 3.  Now we've pulled a Mark Teixeira auto numbered out of 50!  All of the sudden, the Rangers look like the best team of the break - even if the auto is a sticker.  I like the Tex signed his number along with his John Hancock...good stuff - congrats Texas on the great card (and pack win)!

  1. WOW, What a great hit! Man, I feel a little guilty now for trading for the Rangers.

  2. I'd rather it go to a Rangers fan. Would have gathered dust with me.

    Congrats
