A TCDB Surprise Card from mpdillard25!

Group Break: 2003 Fleer Flair - Packs 13 through 16

The 2003 Fleer Flair box has been decent so far - the box promises a hit every 4 packs and so far (through 12 packs) we've found 2 hits (Roy Oswalt and Bernie Williams).  If the odds continue to hold, we ought to find our third hit in this group of four packs.  Let's find out!

Pack 13:
6.  Sean Burroughs - Padres
26.  Mike Sweeney - Royals
46.  Scott Rolen - Cardinals
53.  Orlando Cabrera - Expos
87.  Bernie Williams - Yankees

Not a whole lot to choose from in that pack, I suppose the Bernie card is the best of the bunch since Philly fans don't seem to care for Rolen much.  Congrats New York on your eight pack win - you are now tied with the Braves for the group break lead.  By my count, that is also the Yankees' 36th base card of the break - to go along with two serially numbered relic cards, a serially numbered insert card, and seven (yes, seven) insert cards.  Quite the haul for the Yankees!

Pack 14:
2.  Derek Jeter - Yankees
28.  Torii Hunter - Twins
42.  Josh Beckett - Marlins
50.  Jeff Kent - Astros

70.  Larry Walker - Rockies

The previous pack may have been lacking in true star power...but this pack certainly isn't!  You could arguably pick any of the teams for the pack win!  I'm going to go with the Astros though since Kent is rockin' the sunglasses and none of the other guys were.

Pack 15:
15.  Craig Biggio - Astros
20.  Omar Vizquez - Indians
67.  Cliff Floyd - Mets
DC-JD.  Diamond Cuts:  Relic:  J.D. Drew - Cardinals

That's the Cardinals second relic of the break (the other being a Pujols) which means the Cardinals also were a great selection this time around!  This pack marks the Cards fifth win of the break, making them one of eight teams with at least 5 pack wins so far.

Pack 16:
40.  Curt Schilling - Diamondbacks
63.  Preston Wilson - Rockies
80.  Troy Glaus - Angels
83.  Nomar Garciaparra - Red Sox
54:  Row 1 parallel:  Richie Sexson - Brewers #020/150

How about that, a surprise serially numbered card for the Brew Crew!  This pack makes two wins for the Brewers, enough to push them ahead of five other teams in that category.

Not a bad group of packs - and we got our third relic right on cue.  The last four packs ought to have one more relic if the stated box odds hold true.
