A TCDB Surprise Card from mpdillard25!

Group Break: How About 4 Packs? Right now. Ok.

We've opened up at least one pack from each of the six boxes, so let's speed the break up a bit.  Here are the next four packs from the 2003 Donruss Team Heroes set.

Pack 2:
Mark Bellhorn - Cubs
Joe Borchard - White Sox
Cliff Lee - Indians
Tony Cogan - Royals
Brandon Larson - Reds
Jorge Posada - Yankees
Matt Childers - Brewers
Doug Davis - Rangers
Tomas De La Rosa - Pirates
Brent Abernathy - Rays
Andre Dawson - Cubs
Reggie Jackson - Angels

Glossy Parallel:  Steve Smyth - Cubs

Wow, the Cubs owned this pack between the glossy parallel, the Bellhorn base card, and the Andre Dawson card.  Chalk up another pack win for the Cubs!

Pack 03:
Antonio Alfonseca - Cubs
Steve Green - Angels
Juan Uribe - Rockies
A.J. Burnett - Marlins
Al Kaline - Tigers

Joe Torre - Yankees
Kevin Frederick - Twins
Endy Chavez - Expos
Edgar Renteria - Cardinals
Trevor Hoffman - Padres
Don Mattingly - Yankees

Glossy Parallel:  David Eckstein - Angels
Stat Line:  Freddy Sanchez - Red Sox #1/3

Woah, a card numbered 1 out of 3.  Other than a printing plate, this is the lowest serially numbered card that I've ever pulled out of a pack!  The Stat Line cards are a psuedo-parallel...each player (I think) has at least one version of a Stat Line card which is numbered to a specific stat that that player managed in the previous year.  For Sanchez, he had all of 3 runs and 3 hits in 2002 so his stat line is based on one of those two categories.  A pretty nice card for the Red Sox...good enough for their first pack win of the young break!  I should note that as of this pack, only the Giants are without at least one card so far!

Pack 04:
Dale Murphy - Braves
Dennis Eckersley - Red Sox
Michael Young - Rangers
Ben Davis - Mariners
Timo Perez - Mets
Elio Serrano - Phillies
Mark Mulder - Athletics
Jeriome Robertson - Astros
Mike Rivera - Tigers
Greg Maddux - Braves
Chipper Jones - Braves

Dustin Hermanson - Red Sox
Glossy Parallel:  Carlos Lee - White Sox

Although the White Sox landed the parallel, it wasn't enough to dethrone the trip of Maddux, Chipper, and Dale Murphy.  Congrats Atlanta on your second pack win of the break!

Pack 05:
Carlton Fisk - White Sox

Jason Simontacchi - Cardinals
Freddy Garcia - Mariners
Carlos Valderrama - Giants
Eric Milton - Twins
Nick Johnson - Yankees
Luis Castillo - Marlins
Larry Walker - Rockies
Victor Martinez - Indians
Lou Boudreau - Indians

Byung-Hyun Kim - Diamondbacks
Casey Fossum - Red Sox
Glossy Parallel:  Geronimo Gil - Orioles

I'm giving this pack win to the Indians mostly thanks to Lou.

Not a bad round of packs, and with the Valderrama card in the previous pack, every team has at least one card now.  The Cubs lead the pack with two parallels, the Yankees lead with three inserts, the Red Sox and Royals are tied with one serially numbered card, and the Mets have the only relic so far in the break.  As for pack wins, the Cardinals lead with three followed by the Braves, Royals, and Cubs with two each.  The Orioles, Red Sox, Indians, Mets, Yankees, and Pirates round out the rest of the pack winners so far.

Comments

  1. The Red Sox have the Break Win so far with that low numbered gem! Awesome card for whoever had the Sox. And to think...weren't they there right up until the last moment?
