Group Break 3: 2002 Fleer Fall Classics

We are powering through this group break in close to record time - this post brings us the next four packs out of the Fleer Fall Classics box, namely packs 7, 8, 9, and 10.  Here we go!

Pack 7:
1.  Rabbit Maranville - Braves
25.  Don Larsen - Yankees
27.  Catfish Hunter - Athletics
55.  Lenny Dykstra - Mets
6 of 43 RF:  Rival Factions:  Frenkie Frisch (Cardinals) & Duke Snider (Dodgers) #0645/1000

Oooh, a nice little card for either the Cardinals or Dodgers!   As always, all cards with multiple teams represented will be randomed off at the end amongst all primary claimed teams (and as a tie-breaker, teams without a hit get priority).

Pack 8:
51.  Johnny Mize - Yankees
52.  Johnny Podres - Dodgers
56.  Christy Mathewson - Giants
62.  Dave Winfield - Blue Jays
8 of 19 SC:  Series of Champions:  Don Larsen - Yankees

The Series of Champions cards are seeded 1:6 packs.  This marks the Yankees first insert - to go along with their hit and 12 base cards thus far.  It's a fair bet to say that the Yankees are our current winner in the break!

Pack 9:
6.  Al Kaline - Tigers
13.  Mel Ott - Giants

38.  Rogers Hornsby - Cardinals
49.  Gary Carter - Mets
50.  Kirk Gibson - Dodgers

I guess I understand a bit more why some of the other teams weren't claimed this go around - the big prize box (Fall Classic) seems to be populated with a lot of cards from the same group of teams.  That makes sense I guess - I'll have to try and investigate the actual checklists of the various sets a bit more next time (that is, if I hold another group break).  Live and learn!

Pack 10:
17.  Red Schoendienst - Braves
32.  Ray Knight - Mets
44.  Willie McCovey - Giants
93.  George Brett (Royals) & Mike Schmidt (Phillies)

12 of 30 HF:  Hall of Fame Plaques:  Stan Musial - Cardinals (#1131/1969)

A nice die-cut insert card for the Cardinals.  The various Hall of Fame Plaque cards are numbered out of the year the featured player was inducted (thus 1969 for Musial).  The Musial also marks the sixth serially numbered card to come out of the break - not bad for a break that didn't seem to offer a lot of serially numbering back when I picked out the boxes!
