Group Break 4: 2004 Donruss Leather & Lumber - 3 Packs

Today marks the first day of the final week of classes for me.  All I need to do is grade a pair of exams, write a pair of finals, grade those finals, and then post final grades - and then I'm done for the summer!  Well, that's not entirely true as I am teaching (and designing) a brand new course for the fall semester - one on the Mathematics of Games and Gambling.  It should be a lot of fun (both to teach and hopefully to take) but it will require a lot of upfront work on my end.

You probably don't care much about that though, you'd rather see baseball cards.  Ok fine, here you are:

Pack 17:
30.  Greg Maddux - Cubs
45.  Jody Gerut - Indians
87.  Nick Johnson - Expos
109.  Rickey Henderson - Athletics
HF-2.  Hall of Fame:  Carlton Fisk - Red Sox #0098/2000

The Hall of Fame cards are pretty cool - both the front and back designs are solid.  A really nice pull for the Red Sox - that's their first serially numbered card of the break!

Pack 18:
13.  Chipper Jones - Braves

55.  Luis Castillo - Marlins
97.  Don Mattingly - Yankees
110.  Tim Hudson - Athletics
129.  Edgar Martinez - Mariners

The nice thing about this box is even packs without anything "good" in them still are full of nice looking base cards.   By my count (which isn't official as I'm only using tally marks on a piece of paper), the Chipper Jones card is the 21st Braves base card of the break!

Pack 19:
3.  Tim Salmon - Angels
19.  Javy Lopez - Orioles
61.  Jeff Kent - Astros
144.  Mark Teixeira - Rangers
LLR-35:  Rivals:  Roger Maris (Yankees) & Bob Gibson (Cardinals) #0031/2499

Another dual team card - and serially numbered at that!  As always, it will get randomed off at the end of the break!

I mentioned above using hash marks on a piece of paper to keep track of who has what...here's the up-to-date list (again, it's not 100% official as I am sure I either marked a few cards twice by accident or forgot to mark some cards) but it should be quite close!

A quick glance at the sheet does show one thing that I like (as a group break host) - the "good stuff" has really been spread around a LOT of the teams this time around...so hopefully everyone is happy thus far...and we still aren't done!
