The fifth group break of the year has been a big success (at least in my book) - but let's see if we can't wrap it up with a bang! For this morning's post (and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there), I present the final four packs from the 2002 Donruss Elite box. We've already found a relic - will we get anything else out of the box? Only one way to find out...here we go.
Pack 17:
10. Torii Hunter - Twins
49. Javier Vazquez - Expos
63. Alex Rodriguez - Rangers
72. Tom Glavine - Braves
83. Nomar Garciaparra - Red Sox
Not much in that pack, but there's still three more. Before we get to those though, I need to give another shout out to the group break sponsor - Baseball Card Exchange.
Pack 18:
27. Jeff Kent - Giants
54. Rafael Palmeiro - Rangers
58. Dean Palmer - Tigers
84. Mariano Rivera - Yankees
AS 8. All-Star Salutes: Luis Gonzalez - Diamondbacks #0034/2001
The Gonzalez is the third serially numbered card of the break for the Diamondbacks - who saw that coming?
There are two packs remaining and both feel thicker than normal. Is it a pair of dummy cards or did we find another hit?
Pack 19:
9. Todd Helton - Rockies
20. Sammy Sosa - Cubs
48. Mike Lowell - Marlins
58. Dean Palmer - Tigers
68. Albert Pujols - Cardinals
Dummy card.
Drat - Pack 19 held a dummy card. The box doesn't state how many hits we should expect - will we get a second hit in the final pack?
Pack 20:
12. Chipper Jones - Braves
36. Jim Thome - Indians
46. Jeff Conine - Orioles
59. Bret Boone - Mariners
76. Andy Pettitte - Yankees
Dummy card
Double drat! Oh well, still a decent box. I'm curious what you all think of the 2002 Donruss Elite set?
