A TCDB Surprise Card from mpdillard25!

Topps Archives Week: Another Blaster

It's time for the fourth blaster of 2012 Topps Archives.

2012 Topps Archives:
Blaster #4:

Pack 1:
29.  B.J. Upton
50.  Albert Pujols
79.  Ervin Santana
100.  Miguel Cabrera
131.  Elvis Andrus
140.  Buster Posey
155.  Ichiro
1968 Topps 3D:  Matt Kemp

That's the fourth Topps 3D card that I've pulled - and seeing how they are seeded 1:8 packs and I've opened four eight-pack blasters, I'm right on schedule!

Pack 2:
34.  Jaime Garcia
40.  Nelson Cruz
57.  Josh Beckett
84.  Nyjer Morgan
108.  Cliff Lee
159.  David Price
175.  Justin Morneau
202.  Mike Scott

Another short print that I needed - good stuff!  Although I'm not sure I would have added Mike Scott in the set as a fan favorite...I guess he's a bit before my time though so maybe there are some super Scott collectors out there that I don't know about.

Pack 3:
41.  Corey Hart
44.  Cal Ripken Jr.
53.  Adam Wainwright
136.  David Ortiz
141.  J.P. Arencibia
154.  Starlin Castro
190.  Josh Hamilton
1977 Cloth Sticker:  77C-JM.  Joe Morgan

Anytime I land a Reds insert, I'm happy - make it one of the nice cloth sticker cards that I still didn't own?  I'm even happier!

Pack 4:
37.  Jose Valverde
87.  Clay Buchholz
94.  Anibal Sanchez
139.  Ivan Nova
145.  Howie Kendrick
192.  Brad Peacock
Archive reprint:  Willie McCovey
1982 In Action:  Mike Napoli

My second In Action card in four blasters - definitely beating that odds in that they are seeded 1:32 packs (aka 1 per every four blasters).

Pack 5:
28.  Melky Cabrera
47.  Drew Pomeranz
78.  Miguel Montero
98.  Johan Santana
130.  Giancarlo Stanton
148.  R.A. Dickey
187.  Nolan Ryan
1969 Deckle Edge:  69DE-7.  Joe Mauer

Pack 6:
8.  Matt Moore
17.  Mat Latos
65.  Jordan Zimmerman
69.  Ryan Zimmerman
120.  Tim Lincecum
195.  Brandon Morrow
199.  Mark Reynolds
226.  Jay Buhner

A pair of Zimmermans, a Mat Latos duplicate, and a Jay Buhner short print.  No complaints.

Pack 7:
12.  Pablo Sandoval
19.  Brandon Beachy
61.  Brian McCann
105.  Torii Hunter
110.  Jose Bautista
151.  Stephen Strasburg
171.  Lucas Duda
1967 Stickers:  Ichiro

Well, the second half of the blaster didn't quite live up to the first half...and this blaster didn't come close to equaling two of the other three blasters that I've busted thus far.  Even so, I have to admit that it is a really fun break - lots of variety in both base cards (4 designs plus all the short prints) and inserts.  Good work by Topps - in many ways, this is the set that last year's Topps Lineage should have been!
Other then the Ichiro insert, all the cards in this pack were duplicates.  Boo!

Pack 8:
4.  Matt Garza
68.  Drew Storen
92.  Jordan Walden
104.  Yovani Gallardo
121.  Heath Bell
163.  Aramis Ramirez
174.  Asdubal Cabrera
Archive reprint:  Brooks Robinson

That's the second Brooks Robinson Archives reprint that I've pulled in four blasters - but it happens to be a different card which seems a bit odd to me.  Why would Topps include multiple cards for the same player in an all reprint set?  I don't get it.

Comments

  1. Scott is definitely a fan favorite in Houston... beloved for pitching the no-hitter that clinched the West Division title in 1986... at the January Tri-Star show in Houston, he had one of the longest lines... great guy too...
