How would you like it if we finished off our third box of the day? I thought so. Here we go.
Box #8:
Pack 13:
Historical Turning Point: Discovery of Electricity
Base SP: 327. Jon Lester - Red Sox
Reg. mini: 218. John Danks - White Sox
Pack 14:
What's in a Name: 12. Minnie Minoso - White Sox
A&G back mini: 223. CC Sabathia - Yankees
Framed Printing Plate: 282. Dale Webster - (surfer) #1/1
This is the Cyan Printing Plate used to manufacture Webster's card. It's fitting that we pull a printing plate of a non-baseball figure given how many of our hits that have been of that variety! This is only the second printing plate that I've ever pulled in my life so it's still exciting for me - and someone will end up with a 1/1 out of the break which is also pretty cool!
Pack 15:
Baseball Sketch: 4. Ryne Sandberg - Cubs
Base SP: 318. Mike Moustakas - Royals
Black border mini: 6. Johnny Bench - Reds
Pack 16:
Historical Turning Points: Allied Victory in WWII
Base SP: 348. Chase Headley - Padres
Reg. mini: 98. Nelson Cruz - Rangers
Pack 17:
What's in a Name: 23. Giancarlo Stanton - Marlins
Reg. mini: 174. Ubaldo Jimenez - Indians
Framed relic: AGR-IK. Ian Kinsler - Rangers
The Rangers have had a nice break - now they have a relic to go along with an autograph from a previous box. Congrats to Play at the Plate for those goodies!
Pack 18:
What's in a Name: Willie Stargell - Pirates
A&G baseball ad back: 322. Sergio Santo - Blue Jays #25/25
Woah! Our second numbered card of the box, this one happens to be our first A&G baseball ad back card and it is hand numbered 25/25 on the back of the card. What a nice score for the Blue Jays (and for Nathan who picked up the Jays)! The baseball ad back cards are seeded 1:222 packs (or about 1 per case)!
Pack 19:
Building: Woolworth Building
Base SP: 346. Lefty Kreh
A&G back mini: 275. Kerry Wood - Cubs
Pack 20:
What's in a Name: 28. Elvis Andrus - Rangers
Culinary Curiosities: Balut
Balut is a duck egg that has been boiled with a living fetus inside - and spiced to taste. According the card back, some consider such a "treat" to be an aphrodisiac.
Pack 21:
Building: Chrysler Building
Base SP: Bela Karolyi - (coach)
Reg. mini: 178. Wei-Yin Chen - Orioles
Pack 22:
Baseball Sketch: 13. Matt Moore - Rays
Base SP: Kelly Johnson - Blue Jays
A&G back mini: 112. Chris Carpenter - Cardinals
Pack 23:
What's in a Name: 43. Justin Verlander - Tigers
Reg. mini: 294. Elvis Andrus - Rangers
Pack 24:
Building: Willis Tower
Base SP: 324. Cal Ripken Jr. - Orioles
Military leader: Duek of Marlborough
I would say that was a tremendous box, so much for it not being able to live up to the previous box, huh?!
