Barry Larkin
Year: 1996 (but published in 1995)
Brand: Upper Deck Collector's Choice
Insert set: You Make the Play
Card number: 20 (Groundout)
The 1996 Upper Deck Collector's Choice set actually had series 1 released at the end of the 1995 calendar year. This particular card is one of the You Make the Play cards that were inserted into series 1 packs (thus the 1995 date stamp on the card despite it being a 1996 issue). To add further confusion to the set, each player in the set had two different cards (where the only thing that changed was the "play" at the top and bottom of the card).
I have no idea how you were supposed to play the game - but the cards definitely have a playing card feel to them (mostly thanks to the rounded corners). The front of the card is decent enough - it's certainly easy to see the important aspect for the game anyhow (a lousy groundout in this case). The back of the card screams mid-90s, take that how you wish.
