Brand: Topps Stadium Club
Insert set: Extreme Winners - Silver
Card number: EW6
In 1996, Stadium Club had a 180 partial parallel set that was part of a contest. Each card in the parallel set came in three versions (bronze, silver, or gold). If you had the winning player at the end of the year (based on some sort of statistical formula), you can mail in your card for a prize pack (which varied depending on which level your parallel was).
This particular card is what someone who turned in a silver parallel would get - a very shiny, chrome like finish to a fairly nice card. Actually, silver winners (and for that matter, bronze and gold as well) got the entire set of winners (10 cards total) but what version of that set you got depended on the card you mailed in.
As for me, I didn't collect much of Stadium Club back in 1996 so this card is courtesy of an eBay seller! The one neat thing about the card is on the back you can see just how close the nearest competitors were to Larkin's total. In Barry's case, Omar Vizquel was second but he was about 7 points behind. After him (bunched tightly together were Ripken and Jeter)!
